Philadelphia Police Identify 14-Year-Old Shot Dead On SEPTA Platform

Philadelphia police have released the name of the teenager shot and killed on a SEPTA platform over the weekend.

Authorities were called to the station at the corner of South 52nd Street and Market Street around 2:10 p.m. on Saturday, May 13 for a report of a person with a gun, the department told Daily Voice. 

They arrived to find 14-year-old Wort Whipple of Frankford with gunshot wounds to the chest and arm, police wrote. He was taken to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center where he died just before 3 p.m., they added. 

No weapon was recovered from the scene and no arrest has been made as of Monday, May 15, the department said. 

The teen's killing remains under investigation by homicide detectives.
